LITERAL TRANSLATION

The following is a literal translation from the original text:

1 The LORD shall answer thee in the day of distress, the name of the God of Jacob shall set you securely.

2 He shall send your help from the holy place and from Zion He shall sustain you. He shall remember all your offerings, and whole burnt offerings He shall find acceptable.

3 He shall give to you according to your heart and all your counsel He shall fulfill.

4 We shout with joy in your salvation and in the name of our God we shall set up banner, the LORD shall fulfill all your petitions.

5 Now I know the LORD save His anointed, He shall answer him from His holy heaven in the saving strength of His right hand.

6 These in chariots and these in horses, and we in the name of the LORD our God we shall remember.

7 They are bow down, and they fell, but we are arisen, we be restored. 8 LORD, save! The King answers in the day we call!

MESSAGE

The psalmist's experience is that there is no other help that the child of God can safely rely upon except God. His heart cry is in verse 7 "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."

He is our only help! When we call upon Him and trust no other, He is faithful always in saving His children. In this life, there are many distresses that befall us. Oftentimes, the storm is so strong that our physical eyes tell us we are going to be swept away by the raging waves of life with no help in sight.

The psalmist tells us God is our best help. When we call, He sends us help directly from heaven and answers our prayers according as we request for deliverance from the distress we are encountering.

When we remember to worship Him and give thanks to Him, He will bless us - accepting our sacrifice of praise to Him from our hearts.

God is described as LORD (v 1 ) alluding to the personal relationship that the psalmist has with his God. He is described as King (v 9 ) - He has the power and control to deliver.

SIMPLY TRUSTING

1. Simply trusting every day;

Trusting through a stormy way;

Even when my faith is small,

Trusting Jesus, that is all.

Refrain

Trusting as the moments fly,

Trusting as the days go by,

Trusting Him, whate'er befall,

Trusting Jesus, that is all.

2. Brightly doth His Spirit shine

Into this poor heart of mine;

While He leads I cannot fall,

Trusting Jesus, that is all.

3. Singing if my way be clear,

Praying if the path be drear;

If in danger, for Him call,

Trusting Jesus, that is all.

4. Trusting Him while life shall last,

Trusting Him till earth is past,

Till His gracious advent call,

Trusting Jesus, that is all.
