DIVINE BLESSINGS FROM
THE DAILY MEDITATION OF GOD'S WORD

The Psalmist in Psalm 1:1-3 speaks of the blessings that come to God’s children in the delight and meditation of God’s Word. These blessings include being able to discern between the godly way and the evil way and finally choosing to walk in the godly way that is according to God’s Word. Such a choice brings divine blessings upon the obedient student of God’s Word.

The delight or pleasure in the study of God’s Word is to be cultivated in the life of every one of God’s children. The psalmist speaks of meditating on the Word of God day and night to emphasize the great intensity of his love for God’s Word. To meditate is to ponder, to think over it with the intention of understanding its meaning and seeing the light in the truth of God’s Word and its blessedness for us. Is this your daily experience'

I thank God for the use of the “Daily Light” with selected readings every morning and evening of the year from God’s Holy Word which has helped me in the meditation of God’s Word which is ever refreshing year after year. This is the depth and the majesty of God’s Word. It is always appropriate for us, when handled with prayer under the divine guidance of the blessed Holy Spirit.

The three short paragraphs of God’s Word can be read in less than 5 minutes but the thought provoking words will require the rest of the day to chew and digest. For example, on September 22 morning, the title is taken from Psalm 104:34 “My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.” It enabled me immediately to ponder on the goodness of the Lord in my life. Then the first paragraph reads “As apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.-For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD' Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD'”

The reading enabled me to focus on my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the living Word, thanking Him that, “his fruit was sweet to my taste” this morning, for I am His child and acknowledging in humble adoration “who in heaven can be compared unto the LORD'” and “Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD'”

This meditation immediately caused me to flee to Him to be protected in His shadow as I prayed and committed the day to Him.

Psalm 1:3 speaks of the prosperity of the soul that comes in the delight and meditation of God’s Word “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” This is the abundant Christian life promised to every Christian when we walk therein in His precepts and the promise of eternal life in heaven.
