- This game is for 2 - 4 players.
- The aim of the game is for ALL to reach the last square - HEAVEN.
- To start, each player takes his/her turn to roll the dice and the one with the highest throw begins.
- Players then take turns to roll the dice. They each move the number of squares indicated by the dice.
- Players must read aloud the words written on the square they land on. (Parents of younger children who cannot read may wish to have children repeat after them.)
- If a player lands on a square depicting the bottom of the ladder, he moves up to the square containing the top of the ladder. (A player who lands on square 97 can move over the bridge straight to heaven.)
- If a player lands on the square containing the head of a snake, he slides down to the square containing the tail of the snake.
- If a player lands on a square which reads ‘Recite a verse’ or ‘Sing a Chorus’, he must draw a card from the appropriate deck and follow the instructions there. (Recordings of the songs in mp3 format are available at http://calvarypandan.org/biblegames/snakeandladder/songs.htm)
- If a player is at square 99 and throws a 3, he has to backspace to square 98 and will not finish until he has an exact throw to reach the last square.
